The Natural Products Metabolomics Laboratory (NPML) was originally established in 2015 at the National institute of Horticultural and Herbal Science (NIHHS), Rural Development Administration (RDA), Republic of Korea. Following Prof. Lee’s transfer to Kyungpook National University, the laboratory has been affiliated with the School of Life Science and Biotechnology since 2024, where it continues its research and education activities. The NPML at Kyungpook National University is dedicated to advancing research in natural products through state-of-the-art metabolomics approaches. The laboratory has been expanding its research scope across various omics fields based on high-resolution analytical platforms such as HR-NMR, LC-QTOF/MS, and GC-TOF/MS, with a primary focus on advanced studies in natural products and metabolomics. Through metabolite profiling of biological samples, NPML investigates biomarkers for the early diagnosis of metabolic diseases and indicators of bioactive efficacy. Recently, the lab has focused on the rapid and efficient structural identification of in vivo metabolites of drug candidates by integrating metabolomics and molecular networking approaches.
